Progressive Medicine in Ukraine

International Workshop "Intervention in Cerebral Palsy: Evidence based principles for management in a global perspective" was held on 5-7 September, 2013 in Arabat strilka, Kherson region, Ukraine.

The workshop was jointly organized by:

• Prof. Volodymyr Kozyavkin, director of the International Clinic of Rehabilitation, Chief Medical Rehabilitation Specialist of Ministry of Health of Ukraine;
• Prof. Hans Forssberg, Professor in Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet and Consultant in Neuropaediatrics at Astrid Lindgren Children’s Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden
• Prof. Diane Damiano, Chief of the Functional and Applied Biomechanics Section at National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, USA

The purpose of the workshop is to define the basic principles of optimal care for children with cerebral palsy in societies with different levels of resources.

The workshop brought together leading experts in the field of developmental neuroscience from all corners of the world: USA, Sweden, Canada, Australia, Finland, the Netherlands, Italy, India, Kenya, Uganda, South Korea, with many CIS countries - Russia, Moldova, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Ukrainian experts from all regional centers.

Before the workshop, participants had the opportunity to review the national projects of Ukraine "InterMedical EcoCity» which will be implemented in Arabatska Strilka region.

Later, selected lectures will be published on the website of the East European Academy of Childhood Disability - www.eeacd.org (free after registration).
