In the framework of the state visit to Indonesia, President Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with Indonesian businessmen.
The Head of State considers Indonesia an important trade partner of Ukraine in Southeast Asia. Petro Poroshenko noted significant increase in trade turnover between the countries adding that the majority of goods come from agriculture (about 80%).
“I am glad to see such a big number of Ukrainian and Indonesian businessmen here. It demonstrates huge potential of cooperation between our countries,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
The President noted fruitful negotiations with leadership of Indonesia reminding that several documents had been signed in Jakarta, particularly on cooperation in defense sphere, agriculture and visa liberalization. According to the Head of State, fruitful negotiations have been held on the opportunity of energy equipment production. “We also have a significant potential in pharmaceutical sector,” the President added.
“We should use our unique opportunities for expansion of cooperation as soon as possible,” Petro Poroshenko noted.
The Head of State informed on the process of reformation in Ukraine, particularly in the fight against corruption, formation of new judicial system, deregulation and decentralization.
Special attention was paid to the opportunities opened due to the FTA Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. “Ukraine should become a platform that provides access to the European market for Indonesia. At the same time, we consider Indonesia a platform that will provide access to the great Asian market for us,” the Head of State said.
Taking into account the security situation in the world, the President called cooperation in military-defense sector a promising one as well.
Petro Poroshenko reminded that the President of Ukraine had not visited Indonesia for about 20 years. “Thus, after this visit, our countries and citizens will become closer. Our doors and hearts are open for you. We are waiting for you,” the President concluded.
