On 17 April 2026 First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine H.E. Oleksandr Korniyenko held a meeting with Secretary General of Asean Inter-Parliamentary Assembly H.E. Chem Widhya during the 152nd Assembly IPU in Istambul, Turkiye.

The discussion emphasized the vital need for continued and comprehensive international support for Ukraine, while also highlighting Ukraine’s aspiration to become an ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner. Both parties agreed to continue regular dialogue to strengthen effective inter-parliamentary cooperation.
