The arrangements that are important for Ukraine have been secured today as a result of the trilateral meeting held in the Ukraine-EU-RF format in Brussels.
The European Union has agreed to prolong the regime of the autonomous trade preferences for Ukrainian exporters up to the end of 2015. This step of the EU is an unprecedented move of support to and solidarity with Ukraine.
This will give Ukraine a possibility to fully benefit from the Free Trade Area in the framework of the Association Agreement. Our commodity producers will be able to benefit from the EU’s unilateral preferences and obtain extra time for adjusting themselves to the intensely competitive environment in the framework of Ukraine-EU Free Trade Area.
Along with that, Ukraine will be able to retain the balance between implementing the provisions of the FTA with the EU and continuing to trade with Russia in the framework of the free trade regime within the Commonwealth of Independent States. The arrangements remove even hypothetical concerns that could be raised by the Russian Side in respect to the implementation of the Agreement. Ukraine and the EU have also agreed to continue the consultations with the Russian Federation concerning the trade issues.
As it was planned, Ukraine and the EU will synchronously ratify the Association Agreement on 16th September 2014. The text of the Agreement will not be amended.
